Beginnings and Skulls

Skulls are about death, they are about pain, but they are also about change, renewal, and life. I’ve chosen the skull as a personal symbol that represents my transformation as my transition came about through a near death experience. The background design of this blog represents various elements of my life that are in fluctuation. Ideally, it will become a tattoo. The Greek, gnothi seauton, means know thyself (from the Oracle at Delphi). And the chrysanthemum and the pinecone also have respective meanings. The former is a symbol of longevity, perfection, and happiness in traditional Japanese tattoos, and the latter is a symbol of complexity. All taken together, I have drawn this as a representation of who I am, and who I am becoming.
